Gauchos en la Cucha!!🤠

Opaaaa todo bien en Uruguay!! Join the google photos!!🥳https://photos.app.goo.gl/qQvpEJ4Dtju4s6av8 After leaving the mtc I flew into chicago (shoutout the awesome couple who took me to chickfila in the airport) to panama and then down to uruguay all by myself. wow. When i got into Panama i thought i was cooked because literally everyone was speaking SPANISH gulp😬. Luckily i found my gate haha and i remembered I had an extra book of mormon with my testimony written inside of it- but it was in English :( so then I said a prayer and asked Heavenly Father to make a way for me to give my Book of Mormon to someone. Next thing I know some guy sits down next to me and asks, "do you have the Wi-Fi?" IN ENGLISH. Bet. we started talking and it turns out he had met with the missionaries before, but had lost contact because he was moving from Oregon to Montevideo, and that he was in need of a community down there😏 I was able to share my testimony about the book of mormon and set him up with the missionaries in his area. SO CRAZY. I got into Montevideo after like 15 hours of travel yikes. These elders told me we were going to grab lunch but then they put me on a bus ALONE and told me to get off 7 hours later at rivera. WHERE IS RIVERA?!?!😭😭 luckily i knew enough spanish to ask for help and the bus driver told me when to get off but oh my gosh i was scared for my life. But it was so worth it because waiting for me was my TRAINER MIA FOUTZ. Mia is one of my dear friends from back home in Gilbert i LOVE her. President said he didnt even know we were old friends he just had the strongest prompting mia needed to be my trainer. GOD IS SO AWARE OF EACH INDIVIDUAL AND HE IS SO GOOD🤩🥹🤍 Okay so im in Rivera which is so close to the border we can go to brazil on pdays!! This area is called the cucha aka the boonies-out in the middle of nowbere with tons of gauchos (uruguayan cowboys) it is sooo much fun. We are whitewashing the area so there is a LOT of work to be done which is great we are so busy. People call me rubia a lot😂 I love the people here and i love being a missionary. My favorite lesson we taught this week was with our friend Andrew. He was baptized and working towards a mission when he messed up and couldnt go anymore. He became inactive because he felt too ashamed to go back. We were able to testify of the healing power of the Atonement. The spirit was so strong- Andrew said he could feel it in his throat and was all choked up. I feel so blessed to be able to testify of Jesus Christ and feel the love He has for each individual. The power of the atonement is real. Sometimes we can feel like we're drowning- but im so grateful for a Savior who can walk on water "He doeth not anything save it be for the benefit of the world; for he loveth the world, even that he layeth down his own life that he may draw all men unto him..." (2 Nephi 26:24) I know He loves you!! Hermana Coon

1 Month as a missionary

happy easter!! last week i got sunburnt and this week it was SNOWING?!?! also, this week i officially hit ONE MONTH as a missionary. thats actually insane time is flying- only one more pday until uruguay!! MTC is so fun but i can't wait to get out into the field.

this week is "Holy Week", the week leading up to the ressurection of our Savior- the most important event in all of history. i have loved being able to experience this Easter as a missionary. All of us need the saving, healing power Jesus provides. We all make mistakes we can't fix, experience losses we can't recover from, and face pains and burdens we can't carry alone. The Savior understands everything you've been through- because He felt it too. I know He is aware of you individually and knows you by name. As you strive to intentionally hear Him, you will have increased joy- even if your trials don't go away. remember- a testimony is knowing something;  conversion is living true to what you know. conversion requires action!! I invite each of you to think about what you can do this Easter season to deepen your own conversion to Jesus Christ and His Atonement, make a goal, and then go and do it!! We can trust our Maker has a plan for us and because of Jesus Christ's sacrifice everything will be okay in the end

"Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands" (isaiah 49:16)

I love you all!! be sure to watch general conference this weekend too :)
